Streaming host fined for eating protected species
烹食噬人鲨，网红博主被罚！
A live video streaming host who illegally bought a great white shark — an animal under national protection — and posted a video cooking it last year, was fined 125,000 yuan ($18,427), authorities in Southwest China's Sichuan province said on Sunday.
据四川省相关部门29日发布的消息，2022年一名网络主播非法购买国家重点保护野生动物大白鲨（又名“噬人鲨”）并发布一则烹食鲨鱼的视频，有关部门依法对其处罚12.5万元。
An investigation found the host surnamed Jin spent 7,700 yuan to buy the shark via Taobao, a major online shopping site, last April, according to the market supervision bureau in Nanchong of Sichuan.
据四川南充市市场监督管理局，经查，涉案当事人金某某，2022年4月通过淘宝网，以7700元人民币的价格购得鲨鱼一条。
Jin cooked and ate the shark, and posted video doing so to video-sharing platforms Kuaishou and Douyin, the bureau said in a news release, adding the video went viral quickly and topped the trend charts of both social networks.
该部门通报称，金某某先后对该鲨鱼进行摆拍和烹食，并将烹食该鲨鱼的视频发布到网络平台快手和抖音，此后该视频在网络上流传迅速成为全网热搜。
After DNA identification of a tissue sample, the shark was identified as a great white shark, a wild animal under second-class national protection. The shark cooked by Jin was worth 25,000 yuan, the bureau said.
根据残体组织样本DNA条形码鉴定，当事人购买烹食的鲨鱼属于《中国国家重点保护野生动物名录》中的二级保护动物噬人鲨。（噬人鲨也被称为“大白鲨”。）经认定，该噬人鲨价值2.5万元。
Jin's actions violated the nation's Wildlife Protection Law, it said, and administrative punishment was meted out accordingly.
当事人的行为违反《中华人民共和国野生动物保护法》有关规定，南充市市场监督管理局依法给予其行政处罚。
According to previous reports by local media, the hunter and seller of the shark were arrested last year by local police in East China's coastal Fujian province.
据当地媒体此前报道，本案鲨鱼销售者和捕捞者去年已被福建省公安机关逮捕。
