Luxury car company Jaguar has revealed more details of its 155mph XK coupe, which goes on sale next year.

First shown in concept form at the Detroit Auto Show last winter, the two-door coupe is being produced at the company's Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham. 　

Lighter and roomier than its predecessor and with an all-aluminium construction, the new XK can go from 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds.

It is powered by a 4.2-litre V8 engine which satisfies latest European emissions requirements and also American environmental regulations.

The XK has a new, high-performance braking system which has been tested at the Nurburgring track in Germany, where Jaguar has a special research facility.

The company boasts that the car is the most technically advanced Jaguar ever "and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful".

Jaguar chief engineer Mike Cross said: "What the team has looked to engineer is a sports car with true all-round ability. That means it must be fast, outstandingly agile, and truly exciting to drive.

"It has to go quickly, stop quickly, and do everything in between in the way a Jaguar should. Yet it's also a rational choice. The all-new XK will deliver a balance of superb driving dynamics and comfort that is the epitome of sophisticated sporting luxury."

Production will start at Castle Bromwich in January 2006 and the car will go on sale in the UK in March 2006. Prices will be announced later, but it is thought that the new car will cost around ?55,000.

　　报道说，这款轿车曾在去年冬天的底特律车展上首次以概念车的形式亮相。该车将于2006年3月起在英国上市销售，据估计车价约在5.5万英镑左右。
