Man: Hey Sally, I just got the first draft of my research paper back from professor Stone.
男：你好，Sally。我刚从Stone教授那儿拿回我的研究论文初稿。
Woman: Just now? I got mine back a few days ago.
女：现在才刚拿回来？我的几天之前就拿回来了。
Man: Yeah, everyone else in the class that I know of got theirs back a few days ago, too.
男：是啊，班上所有我认识的人也都是几天之前就把他们的初稿拿回来了。
Woman: But, the deadline...you're running out of time.
女：可是现在截稿日期怎么办？你时间不够了呀。
Man: Yeah. I'm worried. I only have one day to review all his comments and write my final draft. He made a lot of suggestions.
男：是啊，我正担心着呢。我只有一天的时间看完他写的所有评语，而且还要把最后一稿写出来。他可是给我提了好多建议呢。
Woman: You should definitely ask Professor Stone for a deadline extension.
女：你绝对应该请Stone教授给你把交稿日期往后拖一拖。
He should take some responsibility for the situation; it is sort of his fault you won't have much time to work on it before the due date.
出现这种情况他也有责任。你在交稿日期前没有足够时间完成论文一部分也是因为他啊。
Man: I've thought about that, but would he think I was being pushy, or...criticizing him for not getting the paper back to me right away? I don't want to offend him.
男：我考虑过这么做，但是他会不会认为我要求太多了，或者...觉得我是在怪他没有早点儿把论文还给我？我可不想冒犯他。
Woman: True, but it's your grade we're talking about.
女：这也是事实。但是我们现在讨论的可是你的成绩啊。
You've got a legitimate concern, but it's understandable if you're uncomfortable asking.
你这个请求很正当啊，不过如果你觉得这么做不太好也是可以理解的。
Man: Yeah...I'm in a tough spot.
男：是啊...我现在进退两难啊。
Woman: You know you could always just do your best with the time you have left.
女：你知道吗？其实你一直都可以尽力利用好剩下的时间啊。
You're a good student, I bet you can finish it quickly, work really fast and it'll still turn out good.
你这么优秀，我打赌你可以快速把它完成，用很快的速度把论文写完，而且最后结果肯定也不错。
Man: Do my best with the time I have left. Well...if I worked really hard, I imagine I might do ok, but I have to be sure to deal with all of those comments. I need a good grade.
男：尽力用好剩下的时间。好吧，我想如果我很努力很努力的话，也许也没问题，不过我还是务必要把所有评语看完。我需要一个好成绩。
