190. Crazy for Rush Hour
190.非赶交通拥挤时间不可
Work was running overtime again and John was ready to go. He couldn't do a rush job, however,
工作又要超时了，约翰准备走了。可是他不能赶紧急任务，
so he ran his eye over to the timer on the machine; only five minutes left.
所以他扫视了一下机器上的计时器：只剩五分钟了。
When the machine had run its course and the timer buzzed, John put on his running shoes and rushed through the factory to get in his car.
随着机器自然运转到时间、计时器发出信号，约翰穿上跑鞋，赶紧出了工厂钻进自己的小汽车。
Rush hour was almost over and he didn't want to miss it completely.
交通拥挤时间差不多快过去了，他不想一点也没赶上。
John was afraid of speed! Really. Not speed on foot, or fast work，but speed on the road.
约翰害怕速度！是真的。但不是步行的速度，也不是快节奏的工作速度， 而是路上的高速度。
He figured there was safety in numbers, so he was the most safe and sound during rush hour!
他认为人多保险，所以他是交通拥挤时间里感觉最安全的人！
He didn't mind running up against slow traffic, being cut off by others,
他不在乎遇到交通缓慢，不在乎被别人堵住，
or having to smell gas fumes - he just didn't want to go fast or have too much open space!
也不在乎闻汽油烟雾--他就是不想走得太快或者有太多的空地！
Sometimes，if the roads were empty, John would worry so much that he would run a temperature.
有时候如果路上人车稀少，约翰就会担心得要发烧。
That's why he didn't like being run off his feet at the tail end of his shift, he didn't want to miss rush hour!
就因为这样他才不喜欢在下班之前被搞得急急忙忙，因为他不想错过交通拥挤时间！
Once he almost ran wild with worry because he missed rush hour!
有一次就因为错过了交通拥挤时间，他都急得快失控了！
That's when he started seeing a psychiatrist.
他就是在那个时候开始看精神病医生的。
The psychiatrist was convinced John ran riot with his obsession to drive during rush hour because he was afraid to rush into independence!
医生深信由于害怕很快进入独立状态，约翰对在交通拥挤时间开车有一种约束不住的着迷！
Whatever! Let them think what they would think.
说什么是什么吧！他们爱怎么想就怎么想！
If John could just make rush hour he was fine. Then his worry would rust away and everything would be fine! Everything would be fine!
只要约翰能赶上交通拥挤时间，他就会什么事都没有。他的担心会慢慢消失，一切都会好好的！一切都会好好的！
