With the development of technology and advances of economics, our society is going tohave a increasing requirement of teamwork and collaboration. Now in the modern society, if we wanted to be a member of a group which is settled to work together for a goalor a product, which would be more better, A member or the leader of the group? Someone may prefer being a leader because of its high reputation and payment. However, as far as I am concerned, being a member seems more better for the reason below.
First of all, to be a member of a group could guarantee that you could take advantage of your special abilities or your knowledge and skills, thus you would make considerable contributions to the project of your group, which then arises your self-assurance. while, contrary to the leader of a group, a member would be set in a specific work inwhich he or she would do his or her best. For example, when I was a sophomore, I joined in a group majored at syntheseing a kind of unique materials using methods of organic chemistry. I could have been the leader of my group for my rich experiences of organic chemistry. However, without any hesitate, I chose to be a member who deliberate to design the way of experiment. Finally, we achieved our goal with high quality product gained and because I was the designer of the product, I felt vastly honored. Therefore, as the leader would not do only what he wants to do, a member compare with it, would be easier to success.
In addition, in a group, only the members could focus on only a kind of work. Consequently, members need not to spend time on other things that a leader usually have todo, which renders that members could save more time on what they like to do. Unlike members, leaders have the responsibility to manage the whole group and made decisions. both of them cost time and energy. While members, could dismiss all kinds of distractions. A good example of it is one of my friends Peter. He was a architect whose work was all about design buildings. After he finished a blueprint of a building, he could ask for a vacation travel with his families. On the contrary, his leader had to take care of any people in the group and supervise them. Result from that, seldom could he accompany his children. Thus, being a member would get more freedom.
Frankly, whether it is better or not as a member depends totally on a person's disposition. being s leader asks for charisma and charm. it is leader's responsibility to arrange daily things and allocate works. Furthermore, they are expected to be so charmingthat could evoke passion as well as support from members. On the other hand, a member should have enough expertise and hard working, which ensure a good job. According to the fact that the requirements of a leader is something beyond I could reach when I wasyoung, I prefer to be a member of a group.
In conclusion, Even though that being a leader could have high reputation and salary in return, when it comes to work ability and freedom, also with personal dispositions, I would rather choose to be a member. Nevertheless, if I gained the ability to be a visionary leader, I would like to try it. and I would like to keep learning to enrichmyself, just as the great man steve jobs said, "stay hungry, stay foolish".
