本剧主要讲述住在纽约长岛的西佛一家的日常生活故事，是中国大陆较早引进的国外情景喜剧，在中国从1990年一直播出至1994年。1990年代初期一经播出就引发了收视高潮，片中迈克开朗调皮的形象为广大观众所喜爱。而剧中西佛医生对子女采取启发式教育的方式，也让观众得到启示。
Maggie: Here.
玛吉：拿去吧。
Carol: Harm-free mouse hotels, your mouse checks in and doesn't check out until you find it a more suitable environment.
卡罗尔：什么？平等自由的老鼠旅馆，老鼠进去以后，你要为它找到适当的生态环境，它才能出来。
Maggie: And that's not at all. Jason, tell Carol what these lucky mice have won.

Jason: Well, Maggie. In addition to having their lives spared, our fury little friends will be whisked away for a fun filled all expense paid vacation to Disney Land, where they will meet the big cheese himself. You guessedit: Mickey Mouse.

Carol: You guys. So does this mean we are going to Disney Land too.

Ben: Yeah.

M&J: No!
玛吉和詹森：不是！
Jason: It's getting late. I wonder where Mike is?
詹森：这么晚了，不知道迈克哪儿去了？
Maggie: You check the libraries. I’ll check the museums.
玛吉：你去图书馆找，我去博物馆找。
Jason: Why is he making such a federal case out of this?
詹森：真不明白，他为什么要这么小题大做？
