语言要点
1.I've a strange feeling with regard to you, as if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly knotted to a similar string in you.
短语点拨 1：have a strange feeling意思是“（心中）油然而生一种奇怪的感觉”。be knotted to something意思是“被打成结与......相系”。
短语点拨 2：with regard to是一个固定短语，属于介词性短语，意思是“关于，就......而论”。例如：

赏析：这是Jane含着眼泪非常激动连用3句相同的结构表达出了自己对Rochester的久藏心底的那根爱恋的感情。她说用的都是现在完成时的被动语态——have not been trampled on，have not been petrified，have not been excluded from every glimpse of what is bright。对白采用了排比的手法，让人物感情更为淋漓尽致。
2.... as if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, ...I'm afraid that cord of communion would snap... And if you were to leave...
赏析：这三句都是Rochester对未来情况的假设，使用的都是虚拟语气。这虚拟语气的连用表达出Rochester非常在意Jane，他心里恐惧Jane的离开而让他的灵魂又回到枯井之中。他的种种假设看见他对Jane的感情之深，Jane对于他来说，多么重要。
