故事梗概

在这一集中，Rachel 充满深情地向 Ross 解释了为什么她故意冷落 Ross，没有单独向他道别。那是因为她太在乎他，对Rachel 来说，与 Ross 道别是生命不能承受之别。她的话今 Ross很感动，两人激情拥吻。Rachel 和 Ross 和好了。过夜后，Ross决定和 Rachel 厮守一生，不料 Rachel 却将这一夜看作是最好的告别方式。

Ross: Uh, we, y'know, we worked things out.

Phoebe: What's that smile? Did something happen with you two?

Ross: Hey, I'm not one to kiss and tell, but I'm also not one to have sex and shut up. We totally did it!

kiss and tell　(大嘴巴) 从字面上可以看出，就是男孩子吻了女孩子之后，到处跟人讲，很有些“大嘴巴，无聊”的意思。对应的，许多人在表达 I promise I won't tell anybody．的时候就可以说：I do not kiss and tell．

kiss-and-tell 还可以作名词讲，有些人把自己和名人的罗曼史或绯闻写成文章或书奔走相告，这种文章或书就称为 kiss-and-tell．(a story，article，book etc．in which someone tells the public the secret details ot a romantic or secret relationship that they had with a famous person) 秘密仿佛是一种负担，如果碰到比较 nosy (好打听别人事情的) 的人对你的秘密很好奇，你就可以问一句“Can you keep a secret?”　(你能保密么?) 对方肯定会立即回答道“of course! I can” 然后，你就可以调皮地回一句“so can I．” 如此这样，你既保住了你的秘密，而且又幽默了一把。秘密或隐私往往会成为伤害人的武器，所以对秘密一定要严加防守。表示保密的短语有：

Keep something under wraps．(to keep something secret) 例如：The mysterious“Deep Throat” (“深喉”) in the Watergate scandal has been kept under wraps for over thirty years．(水门事件中那个神秘的曾被称为“深喉”的人隐匿了30余年。)
Don't 1et the cat out of the bag．(不要泄露机密。)

还有另外一个短语是：keep a lid on something (to control a situation very carefully．especially so that it does not cause problems)。这个短语除了有“控制”的意思之外，还有“保密”的含义。例如：I won't tell you anysecret anymore,because you could only keep a lid on it for 10 seconds·(我不会再告诉你任何秘密了，因为你只能把一个秘密保守10秒钟。) This film star keeps a very tight lid on her private life．(这个电影演员对私生活很保密。)

此外，看美国连续剧有时可听到一句话，就是：What I’m going to tell you doesn't leave this room．(我告诉你的东西不能离开这个房间，也就是不能告诉别人。)不离开这个房间也不一定安全啊，要知道 Walls have ears·(隔墙有耳。) 告诉别人秘密前还经常说一个短语：Just between you and me.意思是说“秘密不要告诉别人，你知，我知，天知，地知好了。”

对以上所有的告戒，回答可以说：My lips are sealed．／My lips are zipped．(我会守口如瓶。) 或 Trust me! I don't have a big mouth．(相信我!我的嘴巴很严实。) 你也可以说：Don't worry．Your secret is safe with me.(别担心。你的秘密在我这儿会很安全。) 或者是 I promise I Won't tell anybody else about it．(我保证不会告诉其他任何人的。)有些人就是嘴巴不严，大嘴巴(kiss and tell)，容易说露嘴。表示“泄密”的短语有：spill the beins，以及 let the cat out of the bag，它的意思是“不小心把秘密泄漏出去。” (to tell someone a secret，especially without intending to) 另外还有 kiss and tell 和 big mouth。例如：she has a big mouth．(她嘴巴不严。)当你不小心把别人的秘密说出去，你可以责怪自己 me and my big mouth! (都是我的大嘴巴!) 例如：Oops，I shouldn't have said that．Me and my big mouth．(哎呀! 我不应该把它说出来。瞧我这个大嘴巴!) 同样地，责怪别人嘴巴不严，可说：You and your big mouth．(你这个大嘴巴!)
