FIFA withdraws sanctions against Poland

FIFA President Sepp Blatter said on Monday that the organization is withdrawing the threat of sanctions against Euro 2012 co-host Poland.

Poland faced the prospect of being banned from international competition and having Euro 2012 relocated elsewhere following government intervention in its national football authority, in direct opposition of FIFA rules. Blatter told a press conference in Brussels that the issue had been resolved.

Sepp Blatter, FIFA President said "And now today, they (the Polish authorities) took the decision... Ok, we will come back with this electoral committee and this electoral committee will start to work again tomorrow morning and at the same time we will withdraw then, this special commissioner we have installed there. And with that, I would say, peace is back in Polish football, but we will monitor (the situation) at least until the (electoral) congress, which has been fixed several weeks ago already, on the 30th October."
