Andy, the boy in this story, was loyal to his team. So, when he found a way to help the team win the roller skating race, he did what every loyal boy and girl would do. But it meant giving up something that he greatly wanted for himself.
故事中的男孩安迪对他的团队很忠诚，所以当他发现一个能帮助团队在滑轮比赛中获胜的方法时，他做了每一个忠诚的男孩女孩都会做的事情，但是这意味着他要放弃自己非常想要的东西。
ANDY'S NEW NEIGHBOR
安迪的新邻居
"Hello, hello!" called out a pleasant voice.
“你好，你好。”一个动听的声音喊道。
Andy Waters looked up and saw his new neighbor, Francis Frame.
安迪·沃特斯抬起头，看见了他的新邻居弗朗西斯·福雷姆。
"Hello, yourself," he shouted cheerfully, as he fastened on his roller skates. "Want to go skating, Francis?"
“你好，就你自己啊，”安迪一边扣紧他的旱冰鞋，一边爽朗地喊道。“弗朗西斯，想去滑冰吗？”
"I can't. I lost my roller skates last fall, and mother says she can't afford to buy me another pair just now."
“我不能去了，去年秋天我弄丢了我的旱冰鞋，妈妈说她眼下不能再给我买一双了。”
Andy looked at his neighbor's long legs. They were just the right kind, he thought, to make a fast skater.
安迪看着新邻居的那双长腿，心想，这真是速滑选手的那种腿啊。
"That's hard luck, Francis, because if you had some roller-skates, maybe you could be in our skating race next Saturday."
“那真是不幸，弗朗西斯。如果你有旱冰鞋的话，或许可以参加我们下周六的旱冰比赛。”
"Skating race? What's that?"
“旱冰比赛是什么样的比赛？”
"You see," explained Andy, "the boys in our block are going to have a roller-skating race. We've divided into two teams, and there are about five boys on each side. One team is called the Sunnysiders, because they live on the sunny side of this street. The other team is called the Shadysiders, because they live on the shady side. I'm a Sunnysider."
“我跟你说，”安迪解释说，“我们街区的男孩们要举行一场旱冰比赛，我们已经分成了两队，每队有五个男孩，一队叫阳光队。因为他们住在这条街的阳面，另一队叫阴凉队，因为他们住在街的阴面。我是阳光队的一员。”
"Oh! Don't I wish I had some skates!" cried Francis.

"You see," Andy went on, "the losing team has to treat the winning team to a 'wiener' roast afterwards. I'll have to go now. We're meeting in the vacant lot on the corner to talk over some plans. I'll let you use my skates sometime when I am not using them."
“还有，”安迪接着说，“输家要请赢家吃烤维也纳烤肠，现在我得走了，我们要在拐角的空地上见面，讨论一下计划。我不用旱冰鞋的时候会借你用的。”
