HOW A BOY SCOUT BUILDS A CAMPFIRE

E.V.Jotter
作者:E.V.约特
Boy Scouts have often been called upon to help in times of great danger from forest fires.
But here is a story of a Boy Scout who did better than that: He told a man how to build a campfire so that there would be no danger of a forest fire.
Perhaps this story will tell you some worth-while things, too.
For want of a forest the stream went dry,
For want of a stream the fish all die,
For want of the fish the fishermen sigh —
All caused by a fire when the brush was dry.
—John E.Gribble

During the late afternoon of their third day’s journey they came upon a National Forest.
No one in their party had ever visited such a forest before, and the Graysons quickly decided to join the other families of tourists whose campfires here and there were already sending up curls of smoke into the evening air.
Mr.Grayson had just started getting ready to build his own campfire when a Boy Scout, who had been watching him for several minutes, suddenly spoke up.
