第122课 押沙龙之死
David numbered the people that were with him, and set captains of thousands and captains of hundreds over them.
大卫数了一下跟随他的人数，立了千夫长和百夫长来统领他们。
And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of Joab,
他分了三分之一的人在约押手下，
and a third part under the hand of Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, Joab's brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai, the Gittite.
另外三分之一的人在洗鲁雅之子、约押的兄弟亚比赛的手下，最后三分之一的人在迦特人以太的手下。
And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.
大卫王对着军士们说：“我必和你们一同前进。”
But the people answered, thou shalt not go forth; for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us;
但是众人回应道：“你不可出战。如果我们逃跑，敌人根本不会关心，我们中即使有一半人死了，他们也不会在意，
but now thou art worth ten thousand of us; therefore now it is better that thou succor us out of the city.
但是，现在你一人等同于上万个我们。因此，现在你把我们救出这座城市是更好的选择。”
And the king said unto them, What seemeth you best, I will do.
随后大卫王冲着大家说：“什么对你们更有利，我就怎么做。”
And the king stood by the gate side, and all the people came out by hundreds and by thousands.
于是大卫王站在城门边上，数百上千人涌了出来。
And the king commanded Joab, and Abishai, and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom.
然后王命令约押、亚比赛、以太：“就算为了我，你们也要宽待那个年轻人押沙龙。”
And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.
当大卫王给众将下达如何处置押沙龙的命令时，所有人都听到了。
So the people went out into the field against Israel; and the battle was in the wood of Ephraim;
于是，军士们跑到田野迎战以色列军队。战场就在以法莲的森林里。
where the people of Israel were slain before the servants of David, and there was there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men.
以色列人在大卫的军队面前遭到惨败。那天他们伤亡惨重，死伤共计两万多人。
For the battle was there scattered over the face of all the country: and the wood devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.
因为战争弥漫到国家的各个地方，更多的人死在森林里而不是剑下。
And Absalom met the servants of David.
押沙龙恰巧遇到了大卫的随从。
And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak,
押沙龙骑在一头驴上，这头驴从一棵大橡树的树枝下经过，
and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away.
他的头发被缠在橡树的树枝上。他悬在了半空，骑着的驴就这样从他身下离开了。
And a certain man saw it, and told Joab, and said, Behold, I saw Absalom hanged in an oak.
一个人看到了这一切，立刻报告给约押：“我看到押沙龙悬挂在橡树上。”
And Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou sawest him, and why didst thou not smite him there to the ground?
随后约押对那个人说：“你既然已经看到了他，为什么不把他猛打到地上呢？
and I would have given thee ten shekels of silver and a girdle.
如果你把他打下来，我就送给你十舍客勒银子和一条腰带。”
And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in my hand, yet would I not put forth my hand against the king's son;
那个人对约押说：“我即便得到你给我的一万舍客勒银子，我也不敢亲手打他。
for, in our hearing, the king charged thee, and Abishai, and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.
因为我听说，王嘱咐你、亚比赛和以太，要万分小心，绝不能伤害押沙龙。
Otherwise, I should have wrought falsehood against mine own life; for there is no matter hid from the king, and thou thyself wouldst have set thyself against me.
倘若我想取了他的性命，那么你自己就会成为我的敌人。”原来什么事情也逃不过大卫王的眼睛。
Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee.
约押说：“我不能跟你在此逗留。”
And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.
他手里拿着三杆短枪，趁活着的押沙龙还挂在橡树上，刺穿了他的心脏。
And ten young men that bare Joab's armor, compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.
十个拿着约押的武器的年轻人，把押沙龙包围了起来，将他杀害。
And Joab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel; for Joab held back the people.
约押吹响了喇叭，他不再阻拦人群，追逐以色列人的士兵们停止了追赶，都回来了。
