A farmer's cot in the bend of a clear river,

A gate of wood beside an ancient road;

The path to well and market hid in grass,

Neglect to dress in this retired abode.

Tender each branch of weeping willow tree,

In westering sunlight cormorants spread wings

And crowd the fishermen's wharf to dry them there.
