名词还是动词?

Hi, John! I was thinking about a comparison between grammar and business.

嗨,约翰!我刚才在想语法和商务之间的比较。

Really? Business owners want to have employees doing the job they are best fitted for.

真的吗?企业主希望员工做最适合他们的工作。

Sure, that makes sense. But how does it connect with grammar?

当然,这是有道理的。但这与语法有什么联系呢?

In grammar, we want to put words in the right positions.

在语法中,我们希望将单词放在正确的位置上。

Just like a business owner would want to put the right person in a position.

就像企业主想要把合适的人放在某一位置上一样。

The idea is this: The subject position is very important.

其理念是这样的:主语位置非常重要。

For example: The boy threw the ball. Subject, verb, object.

比如:这个男孩扔了球。主语、动词、宾语。

Subjects that are concrete - meaning they can act - are clearer than subjects that are abstract.

具体的主语——意思是它们可以行动——比抽象的主语更清晰。

Abstract words or phrases cannot act.

抽象的词语或短语不能行动。

Abstractions are often a result of noun forms that would be better used as verb forms.

抽象名词通常是更适合用作谓语的动词的名词形式。

Consider these two examples.

看一下这两个例子。

1. The man took a walk.

1. 那个男人出去散步了。

2. The establishment of a better tax policy will take place after the elections.

2. 更好的税收政策将会在选举结束后被制定。

The first sentence is much easier to understand.

第一句话更容易理解。

The subject is concrete - the man.

主语(the man)是具体的。

The second sentence is much more difficult to understand because the subject is abstract: "The establishment of a better tax policy."

第二句话要难理解得多,因为主语(The establishment of a better tax policy)是抽象的。

How might we change the sentence so that it is clearer?

我们怎样才能把这个句子改得更清晰易懂呢?

Here is one possibility: Council members will establish a better tax policy after the elections.

下面是一种可能的答案:议会成员将会在选举结束后制定更好的税收政策。
