The U.S. space shuttleEnterprisehas arrived in New York after hitching a ride on a jumbo jet - NASA's second shuttle flyover in just two weeks afterDiscoverytraveled to replaceEnterpriseat a Washington area museum.
The 747 jet carryingEnterprisetook off Friday morning from Dulles International Airport outside Washington.

Just asDiscoveryrecently flew over Washington landmarks,Enterpriseflew over high-profile locations in New York, including the Statue of Liberty, before landing at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Enterprisewill soon make its new home in Manhattan's Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, whileDiscoveryis now on display in its old home - the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center outside Washington.

Enterprisewas used as an Earth-bound test vehicle and never flew into space.
NASA retired its shuttle fleet last year to focus on developing the next generation of spacecraft that will travel beyond low earth orbit.
