Tonight, facing the possibility of life without a paycheck, 4200 white collar employees at GM getting the same news 7000 frontline employees received in November. Most of those affected tonight are in Michigan but also reportedly in Georgia, Texas and Arizona. GM CEO Mary Barra insists downsizing and shifting production including to Mexico is critical to the company's future.
General Motors is an entity that has not just a three or four or five year future but has a three or four or five decade future and beyond. President Trump has criticized the move, tweeting the U.S. save General Motors and this is the thanks we get. When GM needed help we gave them $300 from every single Canadian.
