二．构词法
掌握英语构词法对扩大词汇量很有帮助。英语的构词主要有派生法，合成法和转换法。
合成是通过给词根加前缀或后缀的一种构词方法。
常见的前缀有：un-, dis-, in-, im-, 都表示“相反”意义，re-, mis-, pre-, inter-, multi-. 前缀的增加一般只改变词义而不改变词性。常见的后缀有：-er, -ist, -tion, -ment, -ness, -able, -less, -ly, -ify, -en等。词根加后缀以后通常保持原来的基本词义而词性则发生变化。Eg: worker, typist, education, movement, kindness, understandable, useless, conversely, widen, and so on.
合成法是由两个以上的词合成一个新词的构词方法。Eg: newspaper, classroom, housewife, outline, and so on.
转换法则是同一个词的不同词性之间相互转换的构词方法。Eg: water, interview, and so on.
