Street Talk:Best Cities in People's Mind

China's urban population has reached almost 50% of the total population, making Chinese urban dwellers the largest population of this type in the world. As millions of people change their lifestyles and settle down in urban areas every year, city life and urban development has become a hot issue in china. Many people are very interested in finding out what makes a livable and sustainable city.

Our reporter Zhao Kun talks to visitors at the Urban Best Practice Area and finds out what the best city is like in people's minds.
The Urban Best Practice Area or UBPA at the Expo showcases some of the best examples of urban planning and development from around the world. Visitors here are looking for the best answers to a city's development because they do have a lot of complaints about the cities they now live in.

[Interview]

But some visitors also enjoy the benefits and merits of their home cities, whether it's a small town or a mega-metropolis.

[Interview]

A visitor from Sydney, Australia says the thing she likes most about the city is its cultural diversity and tolerance.

[Interview]

Situated on the western bank of the Huangpu River in Shanghai, the UBPA displays various types of widely-accepted, innovative and valuable practical programs that these international cities have pioneered in order to enhance the living standards of urban residents. After visiting the area, some visitors talk about their ideal city models, even though they use different criteria and perimeters.

[Interview]

Nevertheless, a visitor from Norway gives a vague but useful standard when judging whether the city is livable or not.
