Internet Generates Innovative Occupations In China

The growth of the internet over the last couple of decades has brought with it many job titles, such as User Experience Reporter. Many people are now able to profit through the network.

The User Experience is a very important consideration for many IT companies. They need to know what their users are experiencing when using their new products so that they can improve the products and make it more user friendly as the next step of the marketing process. So comes the job of User Experience Reporter. This young lady surnamed Chu tells the job.

"My company usually gives us a product such as a certain kind of software which can be downloaded on our mobile phones, and we need to use the software and provide feedback to the company."

Miss Chu's job today is to use picture sharing program. She needs to pay attention to the picture's resolution, data transmission speed and whether it's convenient enough to share the pictures online. An easy job like this could earn her 100 yuan per day.

Similarly, Xiao Qiang also makes good money working for industries related to the internet. He is a DJ for a web radio station. With just three hours a day spent online talking to audiences while playing some trendy music, he can secure at least seven thousand yuan per month.

"I've learnt how to communicate with different people on this job. My audience gets to know my program guests very well, these guests are typically singers and celebrities. They discover that these people appear quite different from what they've learnt from TV or traditional radio programs."

User Experience Reporter and Online DJ are only a small portion of the colorful jobs that the internet has created over the years. Occupations like personal webpage manager, internet writer, internet model, internet accountant and many others have emerged in the job market.

Recent statistics show that more than 400 thousand jobs have been generated on Ecommerce platforms like the C2C area. At the same time, Internet companies themselves are also desperate for more talented staff to fill various positions. President Wang Qindai is from the Datou Konggu Communications Company.

"The internet industry in China is waiting for at least several million talented people to join. Among them, I think those in the most demand are engineers, designers and excellent product managers."

Zhu Qi from the Perfect World Interactive Entertainment Company says young companies like them are in urgent need for internet related talents every year.

"Thus far my company needs at least 500 college graduates every year. After working for the company for more than two years, we promote some of them to work in more important positions."

A Councilor of the China Internet Association, Zhang Lijun, believes the rapid development of the internet industry in China will generate more profit for the country as a whole as time passes.

"From these varied occupations we can see that the Chinese internet industry has experienced a phase of more than ten years of innovative technological development. This has led to higher demand for practical applications for users. The internet has greatly changed our lives. Making a guess about the future, I'd say that as demand increases and new profit models emerge, more innovative occupations will continue to emerge as well."

Currently in China there are nearly half a billion Internet users. The Internet boom began in 1997. Up until the year 2000, the number of Chinese Internet users doubled every six months.By September 2007 there were over 200 million internet users in China. The figure doubled in a mere four years to 485 million this July, which means that one in three Chinese citizens are now online.
