Princess Wencheng was one of the most beloved queens in Tibetan history. In 640 this beautiful and intelligent princess of the Tang Dynasty left Chang'an for Tibet in a marriage of state. Along with a large quantity of jewellery, she also brought the local residents many advanced scientific and agricultural technologies of the Tang Dynasty. The accompanying staff like scholars and musicians greatly promoted the Tibetan culture. Princess Wencheng made a historic contribution in improving economic and cultural exchanges as well as tightening the relationship of the two peoples between the Tang Dynasty and Tibet.
