President Xi condemns attack, sends condolences

President Xi Jinping has strongly condemned the attack in Mali, and expressed his deep condolences to victims' families. He urged the government to increase their efforts to protect citizens abroad and called on the international community to do more to prevent these violent acts.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Ministry applauded the efforts of the Malian government and the international community to rescue the hostages. The Chinese Embassy in Mali had activated an emergency response mechanism to coordinate rescue work.
Spokesman Hong Lei said China expresses its indignation and condemnation of the atrocity. And the Chinese government will continue to enhance international cooperation to protect the safety and lawful rights and interests of overseas Chinese nationals and institutions.
