The first torchbearer was 75-year-old Lun Shan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He began the Yangling leg of the torch relay.
A total of 95 torchbearers from all walks of life joined the run, which covers a 6.53-kilometer-long route. The torch will then head to Xianyang city in the afternoon.
