Foreign athletes have fun learning Chinese culture

It's not just Chinese people taking time off from their work during the Olympics.

Foreign athletes who have spare time on their hands might want to use the chance to learn more about Chinese culture.
Maya, a Slovenian Badminton athlete, has been writing
her friends' Chinese names with her teacher's help.

Maya, a Slovenian Badminton athlete, has been writing her friends' Chinese names with her teacher's help.

Mayas' Chinese teacher has given each of her family members and friends a Chinese name. And she's written them down for her. Maya says these will be one of the most precious gifts for her family and friends.

Slovenian badminton athlete said, "This is the first time I have come to China. Very different culture."

John, who's the coach of Egypt's swim team, is also learning Chinese. Though he's just had a short 15-minute-training session, he's quiet fluent in Chinese.

Egyptian swim team coach said, "Hello. I'm a coach. Egypt. (E) It's not bad, hah?"
