一.odd：adj. 奇数的，古怪的，零散的，剩余的
【词义辨析】
queer, odd, funny, crazy, curious, peculiar, strange, eccentric, quaint, singular,
queer: 指一种无法解释的怪诞，强调事物的奇特和不可思议。
odd: 通常指不规律、偶尔出现的人或事物，往往令人困惑或奇怪。
funny: 较通俗用词，指奇怪得滑稽可笑或反常。
crazy: 多指与众不同的行为、外表或人与物本身，含荒唐可笑或神经不正常的意味。
curious: 通常指非常特别或能引起注意、研究或探索的奇特。
peculiar: 侧重令人奇怪的或独一无二的特性，也指性格特征方面显著的与众不同之处。
strange: 普通常用词，含义广泛，指陌生新奇、奇怪、奇怪或不自然的人或物。
eccentric: 指偏离常规的怪异或怪癖。
quaint: 指古色古香，会人感到既奇怪又有趣。
singular: 通常指异常或奇特，暗含不同于一般。
【词语用法】
odd作形容词指“多余的”，其词组forty odd，forty-odd，forty and odd都指“四十几多，不到五十”。

【词义辨析】
1.decease, disease,
decease: ／di'si: s／是“死亡”、“去世”；与death相比，decease是正式用语，常见于法律条文中。
Upon the decease of so-and-so，the sum of money will pass to his wife and children.
某某死后，整笔钱归他妻子及儿女所有。
The decease rate in that country is very high.
那个国家的死亡率很高。
The general's decease left the army without a leader.
将军死亡使这支军队群龙无首。
disease: ／di'zi:z／是“患病”、“疾病”。acute disease是“急性病”；chronic disease是“慢性病”； family disease是“遗传病”。
The task of a doctor is to prevent or cure diseases.
医生的职责是预防或冶疗疾病。
Nowadays more and more people treat diseases by acupuncture.
如今愈来愈多人用针灸治疗疾病。
Your right lung is diseased.
你的右肺有病。
2.illness, sickness, disease, complaint,
illness: 不具体指，而是泛指一切疾病，强调生病的时间或状态，语体较sickness正式一些。
sickness: 较口语化，可与illness换用，但还可表示“恶心”。
disease: 指具体的疾病，且通常较严重，发病时间也较长。
complaint: 现代英语中，既可指症状，也可指疾病。

1.The rapid spread of the disease is alarming the medical authorities.
这种疾病的迅速蔓延使医疗当局感到忧虑不安。
2.The treatment arrested the growth of the disease.
治疗抑制了病情的发展。
