一.air：n.空气, 天空, 空中, 感觉, 神态, 曲调, 装腔作势 v.晾干, 使通风
【语法用法】
指“空气”时，air前通常不加the，只在the air we breathe等表达中才用the。特指“空中”时，air前加the， 而by air不用the。
We can now travel by air.
句中的by若改成through，则该加the。
take air指“传开”，take the air指“到户外”，take to the air指“开始飞行”，in the air指“在空中”，而in the open air指“户外，露天”。
Many birds are flying in the air.
I am going out for a walk in the open air.
air指“天空”时，要注意与sky的区别，像句子The moon is in the air就是错误的，air应该替换成sky；
on the air和over the air是固定搭配词组，指“无线电广播”。
She is on/over the air.
她正在广播。
【词义辨析】
atmosphere, air, gas
这些名词均与空气有关。
atmosphere指围绕星球，特别是围绕地球的空气，即大气层。也可指环境气氛。
air指空气，也泛指一般气体。
gas指气态物，尤指供燃烧取暖或照明的气体，其中一部分称作瓦斯。
attitude, air, manner
这些名词均含“态度、风度”之意。
attitude普通用词，指对人或事情的看法和采取的行为，多有某种不很明确或不便明说的感情色彩。
air含义广泛。单数形式指某人脸上表现出的心理活动，或言谈举止；复数形式指某人故意做作而摆出的架子。
manner多指某人在某一场合的言谈举止等。
【例句用法】
There was an air of excitement at the meeting.
开会时气氛显得有些兴奋。
The fresh air in the morning made him feel glad.
早晨的新鲜空气使他觉得愉快。
I shall travel to New York by air this weekend.
这个周末我将要乘飞机去纽约旅行。
We aired the room by opening the window.
我们打开窗户，使房间通风。
二.rent：n.租金 v.租用, 出租 动词rend的过去式和过去分词 n.破裂处
【语法用法】
rent可统一表示“租金”，既可作单数，也可作复数，如a rent表示“一项租金”，而rents则表示“多项租金”；
rental表示“租金的额度”，不分单项或多项。
I have to pay a rental of five hundred yuan.
我要付五百元的租金。
rent在作动词时，表示“出租，租用”。
Tom rented this house from Mr Little, and rented two rooms to Mrs Addams.
句中的第一个rent表示“租用”，而第二个rent表示“出租”。
在英国，rent仅用于房屋和土地，但是在美国没有任何限制，可用于所有东西。
He rented a motor-car and went to see a friend.
英国人用hired来代替rented。
We rent books to members only.
英国人用lend来代替rent。

The rent is due at the end of each quarter.
缴纳租金以每季度末为期限。
The lessor can evict the lessee for failure to pay rent.
