词源小故事

romance 浪漫文学

romance指的是“浪漫文学”、“传奇故事”、“风流韵事”等。上面这些意思看上去似乎和城市名“罗马”（当时拼作Roma）并无关系，然而它们不仅从字形上有关，而且romance一词确是从Roma变化来的。Romance来自古法语的Romans，是拉丁语Romanus（罗马人）的派生词，其最初的含义是罗马人广为流传的一首歌曲或一则韵文故事。由于歌曲或故事的内容大都是描写骑士的冒险或恋爱故事的，于是romance就转化为“传奇故事”、“风流韵事”、“浪漫文学”等含义。
