It's the sound of modal verbs among many other important words.

To make the /u/ sound, your lips should be slightly rounded and relaxed. /u/ /u/

Your tongue should be relaxed and raised at the back of your mouth.

/u/ is a common sound in modal verbs, you know, those auxiliary verbs that express ability or possibility

They often have an "-ould" spelling, as in: could, should, would, could, should, would.
常以“-ould”的字母组合出现，比如：could能够、 should应该、 would将会。
But the /u/ vowel sound has two other common spelling patterns.
但是/u/的音还有另外两种常见的拼写模式。
The first is the letters "oo", as in good, stood, neighborhood, good, stood, neighborhood.
