Today in the Britannica Kids Lab, we're going to explore how water shapes the sand on a beach.

If you've been to a beach before, you may have noticed that the waves push and pull the sand.

If you make footprints in the sand, they get washed away.

You can watch this happen by making a model of beach.

Here are the materials you will need-- a 9 by 13 inch baking or roasting pan, several cups of play sand, some water, and a plastic cup.

Let's get started.

First, pour your sand into the pan.
