Hi, John! Why are you all sweaty?
嗨,约翰!你怎么浑身都是汗?
I'm training for a half-marathon, Faith.
我在为跑半程马拉松训练,费思。
I warm up by jogging and then I start running.
我先慢跑热身,然后开始跑步。
How do you work out, Faith?
你是怎么锻炼的,费思?
Well, I hate running.
嗯,我讨厌跑步。
For my warm-ups, I love walking on the treadmill.
至于热身运动,我喜欢在跑步机上走。
And then I switch to lifting weights.
接着我就练举重了。
Hey! We are using a lot of interesting grammar to talk about our workouts!
嘿!我们用了很多有趣的语法来谈论我们的锻炼!
We used phrasal verbs like "work out" and "warm up" to describe our actions.
我们刚才用了诸如“work out”和“warm up”之类的动词短语来描述我们的行为。
We can make phrasal verbs by using a base verb plus a preposition to create a phrasal verb.
我们可以用动词原形加介词来构成动词短语。
We also use gerunds to talk about exercise.
我们也用动名词来谈论锻炼。
Gerunds work like nouns in sentences but are formed by placing the "-ing" ending on verbs. Base verb + ing.
动名词在句子中的作用类似于名词,但是由动词加“-ing”构成。动词原形+ing。
"Walking," "jogging," "running," "lifting" are all common exercises.
“Walking(走)”、“jogging(慢跑)”、“running(跑)”、“lifting(举)”都是常见的运动。
So John, would you like to try lifting sometime?
约翰,你想不想找个时间试一试举重?
Only if you try jogging.
除非你尝试慢跑。
I would probably pass out, John.
我可能会晕过去的,约翰。
But thanks for the invite.
但还是要谢谢你的邀请。
Let's end with a quiz.
我们以一个小测验来结束本期节目吧。
In the last sentence I said, can you identify the phrasal verb?
在我刚才说的最后一句话中,大家能识别出动词短语吗?
I would probably pass out, John. But thanks for the invite.
我可能会晕过去的,约翰。但还是要谢谢你的邀请。
That's right! Faith used the phrasal verb, "pass out."
没错!费思刚才用了动词短语“pass out(昏倒)”。
And that's Everyday Grammar TV.
