CRI News Reports:Building an Emergency-Response Network System
The snow havoc at the beginning of the year affected many people's lives. How to establish an effective emergency-response system has been a hot topic during the ongoing NPC and CPPCC meetings. Some CPPCC representatives suggested that establishing a network emergency-response system is a desperate need.
An article carried by China Youth Daily says disaster relief work by some volunteer portals have proved to be effective. However, some problems have also been revealed, such as lack of staff members, technical support and personnel training.
The articles quoted a CPPCC member as saying that the government should establish a nationwide long-term emergency-warning and emergency-response network to deal with disasters like the snow havoc. And to motivate the large number of Internet users will be very helpful to perfect such a network.
Since more than 80 percent of the 160 million netizens in China are below the age of 35, the internet platform will be a very good one for informing and guiding the youth.
The article suggested that to build such a network, the government can firstly build some portals as well as internet centers in underdeveloped areas across China. When completed such a network may become the most effective and fastest response system when disasters occur.
