CRI News Reports:Green Peace Says Glacier Will Disappear in 100 Years
A Science report released on Wednesday says Argentina's Viedma Glacier is melting faster due to climate change.
Scientists warned If action is not taken, this and other glaciers in the Southern Hemisphere could disappear in the next decades.
Rosario Espina is a Greenpeace coordinator in Argentina.
"Estimates say that if the tendencies for temperature rise remain the same, the small glaciers could disappear in 20 or 30 years, and the larger glaciers would disappear in 100 years."
Scietists suggested series of initiatives to tackle the effects of climate change. Here is Espina again.
"Incandescent lamps waste 80 percent of the energy they consume, meaning they are obsolete objects. We propose to ban them and start using more efficient technologies. Besides energy efficiency, the other part of this proposal is the development of clean, renewable and decentralized energy."
