China unveils tighter regulation on infant formula producers
中国披露奶粉企业最新监管措施
China’s food and drug watchdog has unveiled a revised regulation to tighten standards for domestic infant-formula producers.
It set new rules and raised requirements for infant-formula producers in nine aspects, including purchase of raw materials, formula product inspection, manufacturing process and production skills.
The regulation stipulates infant formula must adhere to medical science and nutritional standards. Producers are asked to use high quality fresh milk, and clearly label their products for different age levels. The quality of milk powder and the production process will be inspected under the same strict standards as for drug tests. Producers must also set up a system via which consumers can access all production information.
