Nearly 200 injured as two subway trains collide in Seoul
韩国首尔地铁相撞致近200人受伤
Two subway trains have collided in the South Korean capital Seoul, injuring nearly 200 passengers.
The accident took place on Subway line two Friday afternoon, when a train ran into the back of another one which had temporarily stopped at the Sangwangsimni Station due to mechanical problems.
Officials of Seoul Metro said both trains were being driven manually. When the train pulling into the station discovered there was a train in front, the driver braked, but it was too late. The resulting collison caused two cars of the front train to partly derail.
Officials are now looking into the possibility that the automatic safety distance-keeping device might have had problems.
The injured have been taken to several nearby hospitals, and most of them have light injuries in their ankles or feet.
