Death toll climbs to 12 in NW China landslide

Rescuers have found the bodies of 12 people and are searching for 52 others still missing five days after a landslide tore through three homes and dormitories housing mining company workers in Shanxi Province. Rescue workers are being hindered by huge volumes of mud and rubble and they've widened their search area as they comb through the muck.
There was no rainfall or earthquakes in the area before the landslide occurred and an investigation of the mishap is continuing. Many local resident have voiced concerns about the effects of mining on the area's environment.
