Makeshift hospital set up near blast site
天津爆炸地点附近设临时医院
Authorities are deploying all-out efforts to tend to the injured in Tianjin.
More than 200 of China’s best doctors have been dispatched to the city, along with 4,000 other medical staff. A makeshift hospital has been set up about one kilometer from the blast site, after the explosions damaged roads leading to city hospitals.
The hospital has two teams responsible for treatment and transfer of the patients. More than 100 injured patients have been treated there.
Beijing military hospital division chief Xie Ming said the key was to provide immediate help to the injured.
"Quick treatment is our top priority. The makeshift hospital is aimed to provide emergency treatment or early treatment for the injured. That could give us more time to send the injured to real hospitals," Xie said.
