1. You are always giving me an irrelevant answer!

注解1：give sb an irrelevant answer：答非所问

注解2：are always giving这个结构式现在进行时和频率副词连用，表示对某人一种讨厌，厌烦的情绪。

2. I've got three essays to do by tomorrow. And I forget to pay my rent and I cannot find my ID card.

注解：do an essay：写文章 by tomorrow：到明天为止 pay one's rent：付房租费用 ID card：身份证（（ID=identification）

3. It is a long road that has no turning.

注解：这是中文谚语“车到山前必有路”的翻译。子面意思是没有拐弯的一条很长的路。就是比喻事情总会会顺利的。

4. The sun beats down on us.

注解：beat down：(太阳等)强烈地照射下来

再如：The blazing sun beats down in summer. 夏日骄阳似火。The sun beat down on him. 太阳照在他头顶上。

5. I don't ask you to enjoy the cool.

注解：enjoy the cool：乘凉

再如：This evening as I sat in the yard to enjoy the cool, it struck me how different the lotus pool I pass every day must look under a full moon.
今晚在院子里坐着乘凉，忽然想起日日走过的荷塘，在这满月的光里，总该另有一番样子吧。（来自朱自清的《荷塘月色》）

6. I like to come home from work, have dinner, chill out for a little bit, and then go to bed.

注解：come back from work: 下班回家 a little bit：一点点 chill out for a little bit：休息一下子（强调了休息的时长）

7. He's been working very hard the past couple of months so I think he just needs to go on holiday and chill out for a bit. 他最近几个月工作一直很努力，因此我认为他需要去休假放松一下。

注解1：has been working：一直工作，使用了现在完成进行时，指这个工作从过去的某个时刻开始一直延续到说话者说这句话的时候，而且将会继续延续下去。

注解2：the past couple of ：在过去的..... 再如：the past couple of years 在过去的两年里（近两年来）the past couple of days：前2天

注解3：go on holiday：度假 （也可以用go on vocation）

8. Will you chill out when you are on stage?

注解：on stage：在台上; 当众

例句：I put on the ballet slippers and ran up on stage. 我穿上芭蕾舞鞋奔到台上。 You two belong on stage! That was wonderful! 你们俩简直是职业演员！ 读得太棒了！

9. Before we can debate this matter, you're all gonna have to chill out.

注解：debate 辩论, 讨论

例句：Her resignation caused much public debate. 她辞职一事引起群众议论纷纷。After a long debate, the house of commons approved the bill.经过长时间的辩论，下议院通过了议案。They debated closing the factory. 他们争论是否关闭工厂。
