Heavy downpours batter central provinces

Weather authorities have warned continued rainfalls in central China.
Provinces such as Hubei and Hunan saw heavy downpours Wednesday. In Hubei, the lives of nearly 74,000 people have been affected since rains started Tuesday.
The rains also resulted in a financial loss of 84 million yuan. No casualties have been reported so far.
In its southern neighbor, Hunan province, the rainfalls eased the lingering heat. Local weather departments have warned locals to prepare for another round of heavy downpour on Thursday and Friday.
They also called for precaution taken to deal with flash-floods and geological disasters. Rains also affect provinces such as Anhui and Yunnan, before moving east and north ward.
