Between April 2 and 4, China Network Television (CNTV)'s iPanda Channel broadcast the pair's rare procreation attempts at the Bifengxia Panda Reserve, Sichuan Province during their spring special, "Season of Making Bears."

The coveted moment came on the morning of April 3, when thousands of enthusiastic voyeurs witnessed Cuicui and Wugang mate for 4 minutes and 33 seconds. The video soon went viral on social media.

The hashtag "webcasting pandas mating" garnered 3.4 million clicks on Sina Weibo, with many applauding the couple's stamina.

Breeding pandas in captivity continues to prove extremely difficult. According to the iPanda Channel, mating season occurs from March to May, when females have a fertile window of three days a month.
