The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) on last Monday demanded an overhaul of the healthcare advertisements displayed by the country's leading search engine, Baidu, following an investigation into the Wei Zexi incident.
在对“魏则西事件”进行调查后，国家网信办上周一要求国内领先的搜索引擎百度对医疗类广告进行全面整顿。
The investigation team found Baidu's search results did influence Wei's choice of medical treatment.

The CAC said Baidu relied excessively on profits from paid listings in search results, and did not clearly label such listings as the result of commercial promotion, compromising the objectivity and impartiality of search results.
网信办表示，百度过分依赖搜索结果竞价排名带来的利润，未对此类付费商业推广信息加注醒目标识，影响了搜索结果的公正性和客观性。
Like other search engines, Baidu sells links that appear in search results. The more an advertiser pays, the higher it will appear in the search results. The public are likely to be misled by the search results they find on Baidu, the CAC said.
与其他搜索引擎一样，百度也销售在搜索结果中出现的链接。广告主付费越多，搜索结果就会出现在更靠前的位置。国家网信办表示，公众很容易被百度搜索结果所误导。

On last Monday, the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) also announced the investigation result of the hospital involved. The investigation confirmed wrongdoing by the Second Hospital of the Beijing Armed Police Corps in Wei's treatment, according to the NHFPC.
国家卫计委也在上周一公布了对涉事医院的调查结果。卫计委表示，调查认定武警北京总队第二医院对魏则西的治疗存在违规行为。
The hospital was found to have published incorrect information, posted misleading advertisements and to have violated regulations on working with the private sector.
